  The Fever of Revolution and the Pakistani Military.. Abu Hayyan Saeed What common style, thought and psychology do the world’s great revolutions, whether French, Russian, American or British, have in common? The most profound, simple and strong answer to this question is found in the famous book “Anatomy of Revolution” by American historian Clarence Crane Brinton (1898~1968), which still serves as a foundation for students of politics, history and social science. Crane Brinton ’s most important achievement is that he understood revolution as a scientific process rather than emotional slogans or romantic stories. He likens revolution to a “fever” – a fever that first begins with mild symptoms, then gains intensity, then a slightly dangerous phase comes, and finally society enters a new state.
